PURPOSE: A twisted nematic(TN) liquid crystal display device and a method for driving the same are provided to improve the vertical viewing angle when it is used at television mode. CONSTITUTION: A twisted nematic(TN) mode liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal panel(100), a driving circuit unit(200) and a liquid crystal module(LCM) driving system(300). The liquid crystal panel(100) is provided with a plurality of pixels defined by a plurality of gate lines and data lines. The driving circuit unit(200) is provided with a gate driver(220), a timing controller(230), a mode converting circuit unit(240), a gamma reference voltage unit(250), a power supplying unit(260) and a DC/DC converting unit(270). And, LCM driving system(300) outputs the data signal, the synchronization signal, the data enable signal and the clock signal to the driving circuit unit(200).
