PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Doherty amplifier capable of obtaining ideal linear amplification and power synthesis operations. SOLUTION: An amplifier device (FET) is employed for a peak amplifier 2 of the Doherty amplifier, the amplifier device having a nearly equal saturation drain current to that of a carrier amplifier 1, the same gate width (equivalent to nearly equal saturation power) as that of the carrier amplifier 1, and about a half the pinch-off voltage of that of the carrier amplifier 1.
