PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing unit whose number of parts is reduced so that work at the time of jamming or assembling is easily performed, and its assembling method. SOLUTION: A peeling pawl 86 is turnably supported in a housing 66. At the time of assembling the fixing unit, the pawl 86 is retreated from a housing part for a heating roll 72 by abutting on a tool for retreating 128 before the roll 72 is housed.
