PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator capable of surely defrosting a refrigerating evaporator even if a defrosting heater is not used, and of keeping a chilling chamber at a proper temperature. SOLUTION: This refrigerator has F and R evaporators 13 and 10. In a form of the refrigerator wherein the R evaporator 10 is installed in a lower part of a refrigeration storage compartment 5, the refrigerator is so structured that an R fan 11 is operated during a F refrigeration operation; and when it is recorded in a storage means 42 that the detection temperature of an RD sensor 34 reaches above a defrost termination temperature (S9) in addition to other transition conditions (S6-S8), the F refrigeration operation is changed over to the R refrigeration operation by a cooling changeover means 41 (S1).
