PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator and its control method capable of preventing the overcooling of the reserve materials stored inside of a quench cooling compartment, and quickly eliminating the load in a freezing compartment or a refrigerating compartment. SOLUTION: This refrigerator includes the quench cooling compartment independently defined in at least one of the freezing compartment and refrigerating compartment, a quench cooling channel communicated with an air blasting channel of the refrigerating compartment at its one side and communicated with the quench cooling compartment at the other side, and a damper for adjusting the air passing through the air blasting channel of the refrigerating compartment and the quench cooling channel. The damper is controlled on the basis of the load of the freezing compartment or the refrigerating compartment and the load inside of the quench cooling compartment. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
