PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sill spacing control device for an elevator that can keep a running clearance at a predetermined value when a car passes through floors for getting on/off and that can block the running clearance assuredly when the car stops on one of the floors. SOLUTION: There are provided car position moving means (6, 7, 13) for moving at least the floor side of a car 1 toward the direction of the platform in a manner to keep a gap W between a sill 12 of a hoistway on the stand side and a sill 5 on the car side when the car 1 passes through floors for getting on/off, and to block the gap W between the sill 12 and the sill 5 when the car stops on a hoistway floor.
