A re-machining or re-processing procedure in which at least one production process is carried out on at least one sub-assembly or part and manufacturing error/faults data is ascertained and stored for the at least one sub-assembly or part and an evaluation of the errors and faults is made in an automatic evaluation process. And a decision is taken for carrying out at least one re-machining or re-processing stage and with a positive decision at least one manual and/or automatic re-processing procedure is carried out on the sub-assembly or part, in which at least one production error location is ascertained by using production error/faults data. An independent claim is included for a re-processing/re-machining installation.
