ELECTRIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM COMPOSED OF GUIDE BAR, SLEEVE, ELECTRIC MOTOR, AND CRANKSHAFT

PURPOSE: An electric power steering system is provided to increase auxiliary steering force of an electric motor in increasing the steering angle of a steering wheel, to design the engine room easily by installing the electric motor to rotate around an axis of a rack shaft, and to reduce noise with the simple and mechanical structure. CONSTITUTION: An electric power steering system comprises a guide bar(12) installed perpendicularly to direction of motion in the end of a rack shaft(11) linearly moved by a rack-and-pinion unit(10); a sleeve(13) sliding along the guide bar; an electric motor(14) driven by a torque sensor of a steering wheel; and a crankshaft installed between a shaft rotated by the electric motor and the sleeve to convert rotation of the shaft into up-and-down linear motion of the sleeve. The sleeve moves the rack shaft to the right and the left, and slides up and down along the guide bar.
