<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost and high-quality optical filter element for transmitting communication wavelength and intercepting/reflecting experimental wavelength, in wavelength multiplexing communication using the communication wavelength and the experimental wavelength which are mutually approximate. <P>SOLUTION: In the optical filter element, a dielectric multilayer film filter 6 for transmitting the communication wavelength and intercepting/reflecting the experimental wavelength is formed on one end or both ends of ferrules 20, 21 which allow an optical fiber 8 to be inserted and have the polished both ends. Therein, the communication wavelengths are 1,310 nm and 1,550 nm and the experimental wavelength is 1,650 nm. In the dielectric multilayer film filter 6, the end surface of the ferrule on which a film is formed is obliquely polished at an angle of≥1.8°and≤3.5°with respect to the surface vertical to the optical fiber axis, the transmittance is≥0.90 in the communication wavelength, the transmittance is≤0.01 in the experimental wavelength and the reflection damping quantity in the experimental wavelength is≤12 dB. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
