PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hybrid type magnet which can obtain a magnetic field of desired strength. SOLUTION: Magnetic line X which is produced in a permanent magnet 12 and has proceeded to a base part 22 reaches an S pole 16 of the permanent magnet 12 through an arm part 24, a clearance part 72, an arm part 28 and a base part 26 one by one. When a current is not made to flow in an exciting coil 62 (when an electromagnet is off), the strength of a magnetic filed passing through the clearance part 72 depends on balance between a dimension A of the clearance part 72 and a dimension B of a clearance part 74. Therefore, if the dimension A of the clearance part 72 and the dimension B of the clearance part 74 are changed respectively, the strength of the magnetic field passing through the clearance part 72 becomes arbitrary and a magnetic field of desired strength can be obtained.
