PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spherical-tip optical fiber in structure such that a refractive index matching agent need not be applied to the root of a tip sphere part and an expanded light beam is not eclipsed in a light beam expansion part. SOLUTION: The spherical tip optical fiber is constituted by connecting a member with a spherical surface to an end of an optical fiber, and the member with the spherical surface comprises a spherical tip part and the light beam expansion part, the light beam expansion part is axially symmetrical and has its one end connected to an end surface of the optical fiber and the other end connected to the spherical tip part, the diameter of one end connected to the spherical tip part being larger than the diameter of one end connected to the end surface of the optical fiber and increasing toward the spherical tip part.
