PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of accurately suppressing the generation of an afterimage even for a moving picture having any gradation transition pattern and also correctly displaying half-tones. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is equipped with a 1st frame memory (FM) 1 storing an image signal which is one frame period precedent, a 2nd frame memory (FM) 11 storing an image signal which is two frame periods precedent, and an emphasis conversion part 12 which finds an emphasis conversion signal for compensating optical response characteristics of a liquid crystal display panel 5 from the one-frame-period precedent image signal and two-frame-period precedent image signal stored in the 1st and 2nd frame memories (FM) 1 and 11 and an image signal of a current frame period.
