PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spiral separation membrane element which can reduce the pressure loss of a permeation side channel and is effective especially when a supply side pressure is low. SOLUTION: In this spiral separation membrane element, at least one of a separation membrane, a supply side channel material, and a permeation side channel material is wound around porous hollow central tube. The permeation side channel material has a warp 1 approximately parallel with the flow direction of a permeated liquid and a weft 2 fixed to the warp 1. The ratio (w2/w1) of pitch (warp width+warp inside distance)/warp inside distance is 1.1/1-3/1, and the ratio (t/w1) of channel material thickness/warp inside distance is 0.25/1-1.25/1.
