RF COIL WITH UNIFORMITY ENHANCING MATERIAL BURIED THEREIN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method to improve uniformity of an RF coil by filling at least a part of the RF coil with a uniformity enhancing material. SOLUTION: A uniformity enhancing material such as perfluorocarbon etc., is placed in this RF coil (56) to avoid mounting of a thick saturation pad (5) to use a thinner pad to fill all gaps (82) between a patient and the coil (56). This invention is especially useful for a CTL coil assembly for the neck (4) area of a patient (1). Another surface coil (78) relating to another anatomical area desirable to control magnetic susceptibility can be also assembled.
