The doorsill structure (1) is assembled from longitudinal profiles (2,3) welded together along an upper and a lower welding zone (4,5) for providing a hollow carrier, with the lower welding zone attached to the inner floor of the automobile. The end of the doorsill adjacent the rear wheel arch (7) is provided with a transverse strengthening strap (9) attached to a rear longitudinal body component (8), for preventing separation of the lower welding seam in the event of a crash.
