OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM AND SPUTTERING TARGET FOR OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a recording layer using an inorganic material whose load to be inflicted to global environments is small.

SOLUTION: This optical recording medium is composed mainly of an alloy containing at least two elements selected from the group consisting of iron (Fe), aluminum (Al) and silicon (Si). Since the iron (Fe), aluminum (Al) and silicon (Si) are the most common elements of the earth respectively and also the materials whose load to be inflicted to the global environments is very small, it is possible to mitigate the environmental load by using the alloy composed mainly of these elements as the materials of the recording layer.
