<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming system that can complete necessary printing without causing an omission of pages of printed matter by making a host machine take over printing from a slave machine when an abnormality such as the interruption of power supply to the slave machine or a system error during consolidated printing in a stack mode and the slave machine cannot continue printing. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming system connects the host machine 90 and the slave machine 91 by a cable 92 and makes them share a printing job for consolidated printing. When an abnormality occurs at the slave machine 91 making the continuation of the consolidate printing impossible, the printing of pages, the completion of printing by the slave machine 91 of which is unclear, is taken over and performed by the host machine 90.
