PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process of treating sewage sludge cakes by a coke oven, wherein organic components and combustible components in sewage sludge cakes can be effectively used in iron manufacturing process while suppressing generation of offensive smell at the time of treating sewage sludge cakes. SOLUTION: The process of treating sewage sludge cakes by the coke oven of a chamber type comprises steps of: adding sewage sludge cake containing 70-80 % of water to coal for a coke raw material in such an amount that the mass ratio of the sewage sludge cakes to coal is not more than 5 mass %; mixing the above and drying the mixture in the coke oven of the chamber type by distillation.
