PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately realize a slimmed periphery of a rod, as to a pressure detector in which a pressure sensor element and the rod for transmitting the pressure to the pressure sensor as a pressure transfer member are housed. SOLUTION: The pressure detector comprises: a housing 10 mountable on an engine block 100 for detecting pressure; the pressure sensor element 20 housed in the housing 10 for outputting a signal corresponding to the pressure; a rod 30 provided nearer than the pressure sensor to a side of the housing 10 for transmitting the pressure to the pressure sensor 20; and a connector part 40 housed in the another side of the housing 10 for leading out the signal from the pressure sensor 20. The end part 32 of the rod 30 located on the opposite side to the end 31 which is in contact with the pressure sensor element 20 is projected and exposed from the mid point of the rod 30 to outside from the housing 10, the tip 32 of exposed part 33 of the rod 30 receives the pressure of engine combustion pressure.
