PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely detect the number of objects present in a predetermined area. SOLUTION: This supervisory device comprises a first detection means for detecting persons coming in and going out of a supervisory area (S02 and S04), a calculation means for calculating the number of persons present in the supervisory area according to the detection output by the first detection means (S03 and S05), a second detection means for detecting persons present in the supervisory area (S08), and a correction means for correcting the number of persons calculated by the calculation means based on the detection result by the second detection means (S09).
