Centrifugal casting process comprises inserting a first alloy (10) in the liquid state into a rotating mold (14) to produce an outer casing (16) for a cast piece, allowing the cast piece to cool until the alloy solidifies, and inserting a further alloy in the liquid state onto a partial region of the inner surface while maintaining the rotation of the mold. The further alloy melts in a boundary region with the cooled material made from the first alloy and forms a cast iron with other material properties when it solidifies. An independent claim is also included for a cylinder liner made by the above process.
