PURPOSE: A drying apparatus of a drum-type washing machine and a control method thereof are provided to improve the drying capacity of the drum-type washing machine. CONSTITUTION: A drying apparatus of a drum-type washing machine comprises an outer case; a tub installed in the outer case; a drum installed in the tub; a drying heater(24) heating air flowing into the drum to execute a drying mode; and a condensing duct connected to the tub to remove moisture from the air exhausted from the inside of the drum. The drying apparatus of the drum-type washing machine comprises a heater temperature sensor(30) sensing the temperature of the drying heater; a temperature sensor(31) sensing the internal temperature of the tub; a humidity sensor(200) installed inside the condensing duct, to sense humidity of the air exhausted from the inside of the drum; and a system microcomputer(110) controlling the drying mode by sensing the washing amount according to a humidity level sensed from the humidity sensor and adjusting the heating temperature of the drying heater according to the sensed washing amount.
