<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extend the life of backlight without darkening the display screen of a variable display device of a game machine with no player in the game machine which has the variable display device with a liquid crystal panel and the backlight. <P>SOLUTION: This game machine is provided with a liquid crystal panel 804 illuminated by the backlight 801 and a horizontal synchronous signal generation means for generating the horizontal synchronous signals. The game machine is provided with a display controller which carries out the display control by outputting image data to the liquid crystal display panel 804. The game controller dims down or extinguishes the backlight 801 temporarily based on the horizontal synchronous signals generated by the horizontal synchronous signal generation means. As a result, the backlight 801 is extinguished periodically at a shorter interval to illuminate the liquid crystal display panel 804 at fixed brightness thereby achieving the extension of the life of the backlight 801. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
