PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode material used in a high energy density electrochemical battery, preferably containing silver and vanadium. SOLUTION: The cathode material contains a beta-phase vanadium oxide silver having a formula of Ag<SB>x</SB>V<SB>2</SB>O<SB>y</SB>, where x=0.35, and y=5.18, a gamma-phase vanadium oxide silver having a formula Ag<SB>x</SB>V<SB>2</SB>O<SB>y</SB>, where x=0.74 and y=5.37, or their mixture with this cathode material, for example, voltage delay is reduced in a high rate application such as being built in a lithium electrochemical primary battery for driving an embedded type heart defibrillator.
