A participant request is sent to a provider via a fixed or mobile network, a participant number is given and stored in a server. The provider determines a beneficiary participant and informs this participant of the win. Each participant is linked via his own mobile number to the given participant number and is stored on the server. An identification and storage of further participant-specific data required for distribution of the win is only performed after selection of the beneficiary participant. An independent claim is included for an apparatus for carrying out the method.
