Ignition control method for automobile IC engine using conversion of required energy value provided by base characteristic addressed by engine operating parameters into closure timing point

The ignition control method uses a base characteristic field addressed by at least one engine operating parameter, e.g. the engine revs (n) or load (L), for determination of the closure timing point for the ignition coil (1), by provision of a required energy value (E) which is converted into the closure timing point. An independent claim for an ignition control device for an IC engine in an automobile is also included.
