A sensor signal (Sm*, PHPA) is obtained from signal components in a signal processor (1) in the form of a signal that is suitable for further processing in the data processing system. In the event of an error report in the signal processor, substitution signals (Psub) are formed and made available for use in the data processing system. The substitution signals are formed based on the errors occurring, the type of error, available information or signals, and/or on the instantaneous operating mode.
