<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing microspheres, by which truly spherical ceramic microspheres can be obtained; and to provide the ceramic microspheres. <P>SOLUTION: A powder obtained by mixing an alumina powder as a ceramic raw material and a water-repellent agent, then drying the resulting mixture, pulverizing and sieving, is spread so as to constitute a slurry dropping face, and an aqueous raw material slurry is dropped onto the dropping face from a vibration type nozzle. At that time, the apparent contact angle is large because the contact angle between the dropping face and the liquid slurry is large and the dropping face where the powder is fully placed has fine unevenness, and thereby, the liquid raw material becomes truly spherical droplets. Subsequently, the spherical droplets are dried together with the spread powder so as to obtain microspherical formed bodies being precursors of the ceramic microspheres from the spherical droplets. Thereafter, the microspherical formed bodies being precursors are separated from the spread powder as the slurry dropping face by sieving, and alumina ceramic microspheres are obtained by firing the microspherical formed bodies. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
