PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ball spline device for a belt type continuously variable transmission capable of improving resistance to wear. SOLUTION: Relative rotation of a moving pulley 10 with a rotary shaft 2 is prevented from occurring by the ball spline device 25, by interposing a plurality of balls 26 astride between an axial groove 18 formed in the inner peripheral surface of the boss 14 of the moving pulley 10 of the belt type continuously variable transmission and an axial groove 22 formed in the outer peripheral surface of a rotary shaft 2 formed integrally with a fixed pulley 6. The ball 26 makes contact with a pair of axial grooves 18 and 22 at respective two points (A1, A2 and B1, B2) being drive contact points A1, A2 and B1, B2 at which a drive force is transmitted. The contact points being respective two points (A1, A2 and B1, B2), being drive contact points and positioned opposite to each other, are situated in a state to offset respective equal distances from the center O of the ball 26 in the direction of the rotary axis X of the ball 26 during gear shifting.
