PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an almost colorless (meth)acrylamide polymer having increased viscosity. SOLUTION: The method for the production of the (meth)acrylamide polymer comprises the reaction of (meth)acrylonitrile having a hydrocyanic acid concentration of≤1 mg/Kg in the presence of a biocatalyst under a condition satisfying formula I:θ(c)/θ(L)<1.2 [θ(c) is the residence time of the biocatalyst; andθ(L) is the residence time of the reaction liquid] and the polymerization of the produced monomer containing (meth)acrylamide.
