<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To treat a large amount of thermal transfer ink ribbons en bloc. <P>SOLUTION: The present invention is related to a means for recovering thermal transfer ink from an ink ribbon 10A in the state that there is wound an ink film 10 obtained by applying ink for thermal transfer (thermal transfer ink layer) on a base material 11. The means for recovering thermal transfer ink has a pre-heating part 20 pre-heating the ink ribbon 10A supplied from a supply part 1, a heating part 5 actually heating the ink ribbon 10A, and a heating part 5 heating the ink ribbon 10A supplied from the supply part 1.
