PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To distinguish between a failure of a shared resource and a failure of a path to detect them. SOLUTION: Monitoring agents 120-1 to 120-3 monitor a shared device 13-1 via paths 14-1 to 14-3 respectively, monitoring agents 120-3 to 120-5 monitor a shared device 13-2 via paths 14-4 to 14-6 respectively, and the monitored results are notified to a monitoring server device 11. A monitored result collection part 111a inside the monitoring server device 11 stores the monitored results into an area 112b. A failure distinction part 111b inside the monitoring server device 11 specifies all the monitoring agents related to the shared device that is a target of failure detection according to shared device-monitoring job relation information in an area 112a, and distinguishes failure states of the shared device and the path according to the monitored result of the specified monitoring agent among a monitored result set held in the area 112b.
