PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a question answering system and an information retrieving system capable of assuming a next question responsive to a just-inputted question and outputting an answer thereto, and also outputting related questions and answers. SOLUTION: By sequentially recording a set of an inputted question, an answer thereto and information referenced by the answer, a next question assumed to be inputted by the user is prepared and an answer thereto is outputted. By recording such a set of an inputted question, an answer thereto and information referenced by the answer, a previously-produced answer that referenced the same information as the one referenced by a just-produced answer to a question is indicated together with information on the question pertaining to the previously-produced answer.
