PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To heighten the safety by preventing a cutting bit from crashing into the asphalt surface, preventing the asphalt cutting machine from being vibrated by crashing to dislocate from the cutting position, cutting the asphalt surface even if the asphalt cutting machine tilts, and concealing both sides of the cutting bit with guide plates during non-cutting operation of asphalt. SOLUTION: This asphalt cutting machine 1 is used as a shovel attachment mounted on the arm tip part 10a of a shovel 10. Guide plates 4 on both sides of a transverse rotary drum 2 having the cutting bit 21 mounted on the side peripheral surface are provided to freely tilt upward and downward between the upper limit position of putting the lower end 41a of the guide plate 4 above the tip of the cutting bit 21 at the lowermost end and the lower limit position of putting the same below it, the lower part 41 of the guide plate 4 is formed like a downward circular arc, and a shock absorber 5 is provided to moderate the upward tilting operation of the upper guide plate 4.
