PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side structure of an automobile for preventing pinching of a slide door without having a stopper mechanism and suppressing increase in the weight of the slide door in the slide door provided with a vertically movable window pane. SOLUTION: A first rear periphery 8b formed substantially corresponding to an area where a second window opening area 19 is located is positioned at the vehicle rear side of a second rear periphery 8c formed at the lower side of the vehicle of the first rear periphery 8b. When the slide door 16 is fully opened, a width in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle between a front periphery 19a of the second window opening area 19 and the first rear periphery 8b is larger than that between the front periphery 19a and the second rear periphery 8c. When the slide door 16 is fully closed, in the rear periphery 16a of the slide door 16, a side of a lower portion 16c substantially corresponding in position to the second rear periphery 8c is located in the vehicle front side of an upper portion 16b substantially corresponding in position to the first rear periphery 8b.
