<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of efficiently charging a capacitor used as the auxiliary power source of a fixing device while maintaining the maximum power consumption of the entire apparatus even when a peripheral machine is mounted. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus equipped with the fixing device where a toner image is thermally fixed by a fixing member is equipped with the capacitor CP1 being the auxiliary power source which can be charged, a capacitor charger 203 charging the capacitor CP1, a fixing heater HT1 heating a fixing roller 151 by generating heat when power is supplied from the capacitor CP1, and a control part 202 detecting the connection state of the peripheral machine and fluctuating the charge feasible period of the capacitor CP1 in accordance with the connection state of the detected peripheral machine. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
