<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive sheet identification information reader and sheets preventing troubles resulting from the inability to read an identification number imparted to each printing sheet, even when the printing sheets are set with the wrong side up or in the wrong vertical position. <P>SOLUTION: Sheet identification information is imparted to a predetermined position on each sheet. The sheet formed with a sheet identification information position presenting marker in a predetermined positional relationship with the sheet identification information for presenting the position where the sheet identification information is imparted is used. The sheet identification information position presenting marker formed at least in the upstream of the sheet identification information along the feed direction of the sheet is read.
