PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic toner which prevents mainly primary particles of the pigment in the toner from existing in the state of aggregate, has excellent transparency and makes a sufficient degree of pigmentation obtainable without degrading the color reproducibility and the light transmittability of an OHP film. SOLUTION: The image forming toner contains at least coloring matter, a binder resin and a release agent. The coloring matter prepared by embedding or sticking a pigment by a mechanochemical reaction into or onto the surfaces of white or colorless inorganic particulates is used as the coloring matter.
