PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means of simplifying a manufacturing method of zinc carbonate according to decrease in concentration of F in a raw material containing Zn, making capable of separating and recovering substances generated in the manufacturing process such as residue, etc., and carrying out its recycle and disposal easily and appropriately. SOLUTION: In this method of manufacturing a high purity zinc carbonate, where a high purity zinc carbonate is crystallized from a raw material containing Zn by ammonium carbonate solubilization method, the raw material containing Zn is washed with water to solubilize and remove alkalis and halogens, then the washed raw material containing Zn with water is dissolved with NH<SB>4</SB>OH and (NH<SB>4</SB>)<SB>2</SB>CO<SB>3</SB>aqueous solutions, and a metallic Zn is added to the resultant solution and heavy metal impurity components in the solution are precipitated by an ion-exchange reaction, thus a high purity zinc refined solution is obtained and then defluorination treatment is carried out.
