PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a membrane washing device of a membrane filter which can wash a membrane in accordance with the stain condition of the membrane of the membrane filter, efficiently sterilize virus sticking to the membrane and prolong the life of the membrane. SOLUTION: The membrane filter 26 is immersed into water to be treated in a nitrification vessel 18 to membrane-filter the water to be treated. In the case of washing the membrane, a first backward washing line backward washing the membrane with backward washing water added with an oxidizing agent, and a second backward washing line backward washing the membrane with backward washing water added with an oxidizing agent and irradiated with an ultraviolet ray are changed over each other in accordance with a stain condition.
