<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a breakthrough detection method and a device therefor for a gas adsorption system, capable of wasting no adsorbent uselessly because its automatic detection of the adsorbent breakthrough can tell the proper replacement time of the adsorbent, capable of preventing to the utmost the discharge of a material to be adsorbed (a harmful matter) because of no outbreak of the adsorbent breakthrough, and also capable of saving a cost because of needing no periodical sampling or analysis of an exhaust gas. <P>SOLUTION: The breakthrough detection method is for the gas adsorption system wherein the gas containing the material to be adsorbed is treated in an adsorption column 1 filled with the adsorbent 2 which adsorbs and removes the material to be adsorbed. An adsorption detecting material 4 is disposed in a gas space 3 at the outlet side of the adsorbent 2. By sensing that the weight increase of the adsorption detecting material 4 is more than a prescribed amount, it automatically detects that the concentration of the material to be adsorbed at the outlet of the adsorption column 1 has reached a prescribed level, thus determining the replacement time of the adsorbent 2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
