<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a light source with a favorable large quantity of light for a three-dimensional image display device by cooling the light source at a high efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The light source unit 238 of the image display device displays images by irradiating a liquid crystal display panel 232 with the light from behind. The light source unit 238 is provided with a light source 243 for emitting light, a board 247 which comprises a metal member with the light source 243 mounted thereon, a light source housing member 242 in which the board 247 is securely housed while having a light emitting surface of the light source 243 opened, a polarization filter 246 for the specific polarization of the light from the light source 243 mounted on the opening surface of the light source housing member 242 and a heat pipe 300 mounted in contact with the board 247. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
