PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for preparing a polyketone solution for the production of a polyketone fiber that has very few defects such as fluffs or the like, stably exhibits high strength and a high elastic modulus and is excellent in durability and fatigue resistance required for use as an industrial material, more specifically for the production of a homogenous polyketone fiber that is excellent in durability and fatigue resistance by inhibiting the reduction of the intrinsic viscosity which occurs during hot drawing and further can exhibit high strength and a high elastic modulus and is excellent in durability and fatigue resistance even when hot drawn at a high strain rate. SOLUTION: The process for preparing the polyketone solution comprises dissolving in a solvent a polyketone having an intrinsic viscosity of 2.5-20 dl/g and having repeating units 95 mol% or more of which is represented by formula (1), wherein in the case when the relationship between an intrinsic viscosity [η] of polyketone before dissolving the polyketone and an intrinsic viscosity [η]1 of polyketone after dissolving the polyketone in the solvent and then removing the solvent is represented as K1=[η]1/[η], K1=0.5-0.9.
