PAPER COATING AGENT AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING PAPER USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide printing paper or bulking paper improved in rigidity such as flexural strength or firmness. SOLUTION: A paper coating agent comprises a water-based polyisocyanate compound having an active isocyanate group protected with a blocking agent. By coating paper with the paper coating agent, the blocking agent is dissociated by the heat at the drying step after coating to regenerate the active isocyanate group, which is self-crosslinked or reacts with another active hydrogen group-containing compound to effect curing, thus improving the rigidity of the paper.
