PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form recording dots of a different shape from a shape of an irradiation light beam by oscillating a relative position between a recording medium and the irradiation light simultaneously with scanning in a main scanning direction, and casting the light by a nearly uniform energy distribution to the recording medium. SOLUTION: The beam shape 301 of the irradiation light has a diameter larger in the main scanning direction than a diameter in a vertical scanning direction. Writing 302 forms the recording dots 303 by oscillating the irradiation light beam in the vertical scanning direction.
