PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luminance characteristic measuring apparatus, a luminance characteristic measuring method, storage medium and program therefor that can measure the luminance characteristic of a display unit with high precision by using rectangular luminance patterns. SOLUTION: A luminance characteristic measuring image producing section M021 produces a luminance characteristic measuring image containing a plurality of different groups of constant luminance with average luminance patterns (the rectangular luminance patterns) for realizing a predetermined average luminance and a constant luminance patterns comprising pixel density for forming a constant luminance, that are defined as a pair. Based on the luminance characteristic measuring image that the luminance characteristic measuring image producing section M021A has produced, a luminance characteristic measuring section M011 displays a plurality of the groups of the average luminance patterns on the display unit M01, the constant luminance patterns and an adjustment means by which users can adjust the plurality of the groups of the average luminance patterns and of the constant luminance patterns and the constant luminance of the plurality of the constant luminance patterns. After an adjustment by the adjustment means, the users obtain an average luminance value of the average luminance patterns that are objects for measurement among the plurality of the groups of the average luminance patterns and a pixel density value according to the constant luminance of the constant luminance patterns.
