Vessel for receiving a sample contains: (i) a solution (A) that stabilizes nucleic acid (NA); and (ii) a solid phase (B) that binds NA. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) method for sampling that involves direct introduction of whole blood into the new vessel; (b) method for stabilizing and/or isolating NA from whole blood by directly placing it in the new vessel, then optionally recovering NA from (B); (c) use of a solution, containing a guanidinium salt, buffer, detergent and/or reducing agent, also of a (B), in a sampling vessel, particularly one for sampling blood; and (d) use of a NA-binding solid phase in a sampling vessel, particularly one for sampling blood. |
