<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for conditioning at further smaller cost of device engineering. <P>SOLUTION: The state that pickup of printing ink from an ink fountain roller 6 by a ductor roller 10 is stopped is held. Simultaneously, the ink fountain roller 6 is rotated at the conditioning rotational speed. Simultaneously, a metering unit is controlled in response to a conditioning profile. The metering unit is opened at least temporarily and only partly during conditioning in response to this conditioning profile.
