453,770. Cables. CONDUCTEUR ELECTRIQUE BLINDE INCOMBUSTIBLE, 30, Rue d'Astorg, Paris. March 12,1935, No. 7693. Convention date, March 14, 1934. [Class 36] A cable comprises a central conductor 1, one or more tubular coaxial conductors 2, and an outer metal sheath 4, the conductors being insulated from one another and from the sheath 4 by layers, such as 3, 5, of powdered magnesia. The insulating layers may be formed by winding around each conductor a layer of magnesium wires or tapes which are subsequently converted, either layer by layer or as a whole, into magnesia by passing steam between the conductors and then heating. The cable is subjected to a drawing or rolling operation to compact the magnesia layers, and such operation may take place after the conversion of each of the layers of magnesium into magnesia when the insulating layers are separately formed. |
