<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently correct sharpness while suppressing mosquito noise in digital image processing. <P>SOLUTION: A gain setting means 32 in a high frequency component processing means 30 sets a gain GHO for adjusting a high frequency component YH based on the absolute value ¾YH¾ of the high frequency component YH. A gain correcting means 34 obtains a gain GH by making correction based on the absolute value ¾YM¾ of a medium frequency component YM so that the smaller ¾YM¾ is, the smaller the gain GHO is made.
